Biodiversity Landscapes

Sounds Right will prioritize promoting nature samples from and conservation efforts in biodiversity hotspots with the highest rates of plant and animal diversity, as well as rates of endemism while ensuring a mix in geographies and biomes. These are: Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands, Indo-Burma, India and Myanmar, Sundaland, the Philippines, Tropical Andes, and the Atlantic Forest.

These landscapes were determined based on a weighted analysis of the most critical landscapes, as defined by scientific research on the 36 biodiversity hotspots and key biodiversity areas. Within each of the landscapes supported, conservation partners will navigate diverse, political, economic, and local contexts. For the specific implementation of projects, UN Live is partnering with credible and highly experienced conservation partners - as well as development experts - who have in-depth expertise within the selected geographic areas.
